Thank you for your interest in our graduate program. Before you apply, please read the following guidelines to understand our programs, procedures, requirements, and other information you need to know before applying.

    - Any applications that don't meet our requirements and deadline will not be considered for admission. 
    - After completing the application, please monitor the status of document submission at regular intervals.  

 

The following information is the major terms and conditions of your application to our graduate program. 

 

I. Admission Timeline

   The timeline in this table is based on the local time of South Korea (KST) and is subject to change without any prior notice. 
  
All the supporting materials along with a hardcopy of application must be received by KAIST admissions office by the official due date 
   [January 8th(Wed.), 2020]. 
Late applications will not be considered. 

 

 

II. Important Notice


KAIST receives recommendation letters electronically. Once you complete the application by paying the application fee,
   each recommender will receive an automated email instructing how to proceed with their recommendation online. 
   Our recommendation system will be opened until January 8th(Wed.). So, please complete your application as early as 
   possible
so that your recommenders can have enough time to complete the letter

 The letters of recommendation should remain strictly undisclosed to applicants and should not be requested any reading or
    disclosure of information given in the letters. 

※ The application fee is USD 80 or KRW 80,000. Payment can be made by credit card or bank transfer after completing online
   application. Additional charge(s) (i.e. bank charge) should be covered by the applicants. Please note that application fee is 
   non-refundable and you cannot modify application form once you pay the application fee.

 Documents that are sent to the Admissions Office CANNOT be returnedMost universities will provide additional original 
   documents, for a fee. If you will need your documents again, please ensure that you have more than one copy before making 
   your application.


III. Notice to collection and use of personal information 


Pursuant to the Article 24-2 (1) i of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act and the Article 73 (1) ii of the Enforcement Decree of the Korean Higher Education Act, personal information is collected and used without the consent
of the data subject.

   A. The purpose of the processing of personal information: student selection
   B. Personal information to be collected: passport number (or equivalent national identification number) and/or 
                                                       foreigner registration number

   C. Relevant law: Article 73 (1) ii of the Enforcement Decree of the Korean Higher Education Act (Handling of Personally
                        Identifiable Information)

   D. The period when personal information is retained and used: 5 years  
 

 

IV. Consent to the collection and use of personal information 

KAIST Graduate Admissions Team observes the Personal Information Protection Act and guides you through the collection and use of private information as follows:
   - Our team shall collect minimum personal information lawfully and fairly to the extent necessary for the student selection
     purpose and shall not process beyond such purpose or provide such information to a third party.

   - Our team shall take such managerial, physical and technical safety measures as encryption of personal information and
     access control to implement the duty of safeguards specified by the Personal Information Protection Act.

     A. The purpose of collection and use of personal information
         - Student selection
         - Creation of school register and verification of academic record for the admitted students, orientation for new admitted 
           students

     B. Personal information to be collected
        - Application data (program, major), applicant (name, nationality, photo, passport number (or equivalent national
          identification number) and/or foreigner registration number, address, telephone number, e-mail address, refund bank
          account, military service record),  academic record, English Proficiency Test score, work experience record

     C. The period when personal information is retained and used: 5 years 
 

You are entitled to deny consent to the collection and use of your personal information. However, your completion and submission of the application will be restricted if you refuse to consent. 



     Any person who resorts to corrupt means to gain admission such as making a false declaration on submitted
     documents (required documents and other proof of excellence), or who fails to satisfy admission requirements
     after submitting the application may have the offer of admission withdrawn.
